The “New Year – New You!” health kick every January is certainly nothing revolutionary.  People throw around trendy of-the-moment diets. Or boldly state, “I’m cutting out _______.”  Or “I’m going to exercise ____ times per week.”  Goals are great!  Structure is great!  And, if having a set diet, number, or system helps you achieve your health goals, feel better, have more energy, or accomplish whatever you set out to achieve, then more power to you! While I don’t exactly set new years resolutions, I am a goal oriented, type-A gal. So goal setting is part of my DNA.  I write everything in a notebook/planner that I carry with me everywhere.  Yes, its old-school.  But, I like the tangibility.  I like flipping it open and see what my goals are and assess whether or not I am taking steps towards accomplishing them.  If I’m not, then maybe I need to re-evaluate the goals, my commitment, or the steps.  But either way, having it all right there helps me hold myself accountable.  I set goals for everything in life: kitchen remodels, marathon mile time splits, freelance writing…
