Pistachio Honey Rosewater Shortbread with Dark Chocolate

For when you want to combine all of the most romantic and decadent things you can think of into one food, make these.  Whether you are making them for your Valentine, for your girlfriends for Galentine’s, or for a Fat Tuesday feast, these will be G.O.N.E. in no time at all. Tender honey shortbread with chopped pistachios and a hint of rosewater!  Drizzle with or dunk in dark chocolate.  Give them a little sprinkle of chopped pistachios. We taste tested 3 different variations with our professional taste testers – more commonly known as our friends Chloe and Ricky.  These were the unanimous winners.  Although people had strong feelings about the chocolate…

Christmas Cookie Round-up

Christmas carols are like Christmas cookies.   Everyone has a favorite – often a favorite we can vehemently argue the superiority of.  The hubs believes no christmas cookie can ever top sugar cookies with thick buttercream frosting (read: a mountain of buttercream).  My sister would go to bat for hazelnut crescents.  My brother would make a case for chewy ginger molasses.  And my dad loves the Italian Anise cookies reminiscent of black licorice.  I admit, I’m not sure I could pick just one favorite, but I don’t think my brother is too far off on this one.  But still, it might be a toss-up between pillowy Italian ricotta cookies and a…

Tahini Shortbread Cookies

Who remembers those giant tins of Danish Butter Cookies during the holidays??  Anyone!?  Every holiday season, at least one client would gift my dad with one of those giant cookie tins.  If you are familiar with danish butter cookies, then you know that every cookie in the tin is essentially the same.  They are just made into different shapes and some are topped with sugar.  But when you are a kid, the perception of choice is a powerful thing. Growing up, my brother and I would park ourselves at the kitchen table peering into this monster tin of cookies and argue about who got which cookie and which ones were…

Start with a super simple shortbread cookie base Then a layer of pumpkin butter Followed by a streusel of shortbread crumble on top Then bake, cool, slice, and try not eat the whole pan in one sitting. You can use any pumpkin butter you like – store-bought or homemade, –  but I’m going to put in a strong plug for my easy 20-minute pumpkin butter!  A batch of this will keep in the fridge for at least a month!…

Coconut Lime Cookie and Fro-Yo Sandwiches

Six years ago this morning, I was sitting in hair salon chairs with my best friend sipping coffee through a straw having my hair done for my wedding, nervously checking ferry wait times, and stressing about my half-memorized vows. Six years ago today, I said “I do” to the guy who still makes me laugh until I cry and is every bit as kind, smart, and wonderful as I thought when we jumped into this crazy adventure.  There is no one else I would want to do life with. Yesterday, we boarded a plane for Kauai.  The same island we went to on our honeymoon 6 years ago.  We are…
