Holiday Dessert Round-up!

Lets keep Holiday Treat Week rolling! As a follow-up to the Christmas Cookie round-up from earlier this week, I’m excited to share the dessert edition!  Featuring my family’s favorite Holiday Desserts on the blog!!  This crew of folks I was born into are big dessert people! No matter how many notches our belts have been loosened, we make room for dessert!  It’s nearly a requirement to joining the family! If you can put up with our loud, overbearing, opinionated, but loving nature, the food is just a perk.  The dessert dessert spread involves the most incredible cheesecake ever, sticky-gooey gingerbread cake, and lots of pies, so I would want to…

Christmas Cookie Round-up

Christmas carols are like Christmas cookies.   Everyone has a favorite – often a favorite we can vehemently argue the superiority of.  The hubs believes no christmas cookie can ever top sugar cookies with thick buttercream frosting (read: a mountain of buttercream).  My sister would go to bat for hazelnut crescents.  My brother would make a case for chewy ginger molasses.  And my dad loves the Italian Anise cookies reminiscent of black licorice.  I admit, I’m not sure I could pick just one favorite, but I don’t think my brother is too far off on this one.  But still, it might be a toss-up between pillowy Italian ricotta cookies and a…

Mexican Chocolate Pie with Gingersnap Crust

Around the holidays, apple, pumpkin, & pecan pies are of course making frequent appearances at the extended family gatherings.  I.E. Lots of non-cream pies and certainly no cake. During our first Thanksgiving as newlyweds, I was tasked with pies.  My plan was apple and pumpkin (even I hate pecan).  The hubs was having none of this fruit pie non-sense, so he decided…

Thyme Roasted Carrots with Maple Dijon Glaze

Colorful roasted vegetables are always welcome on my table.  Especially during the holidays!  These roasted carrots are beyond delicious!  We ate a lot of superbly awesome things on Thanksgiving… but when the roasted vegetable is hogging all of the “What’s the recipe?” side-dish hype, you know its a winner. These roasted carrots are easy to make and topped with an addicting maple dijon glaze!  Perfect for a the holidays…. and a weeknight! I’ll be sitting out the hosting on Christmas day, but I am forever and always the salad, roasted veg, and dessert gal for our fam’s Christmas gathering.  So get ready folks, I’m bringing my A-game with these roasted carrots!…
