Love People Well: Ginger Biscuits with Apple & Pumpkin Butter

This post is part of the Love People Well series.  The focus of this series is on easily shareable, transportable, and giftable foods.  Its an invitation to spread a little love to our friends and neighbors in a simple and tangible way. Friends its officially fall!  Around here, fall means warm drinks, fall leaves, the return of the rain, and cozy weekends.  Under normal circumstances, cozy mornings consist of giving our french press and teapot a work out, having friends over for brunch, and then snuggling up under blankets all afternoon to read a book I’ve stashed away for a literal rainy day.  But this fall is not normal… we…

Fall Flavors: Pumpkin Butter

Last week, I swooooooned over this apple butter!  And it is seriously swoon worthy.  But, on the off chance that you don’t have 3-4 hours, I wanted to provide this 20-minute, equally smooth pumpkin butter recipe for all my fellow fall flavor loving people! I would be remiss if I said the flavors were as intense as the slow simmered then baked apple butter from last week, but this 20 minute pumpkin butter is still packed with fall spices and naturally sweetened with coconut sugar, brown sugar, and maple syrup.  All fall long, I keep jars of this stuff for last minute brunch or coffee dates with friends. Pumpkin butter…

Fall Flavors: The Best Ever Apple Butter

You know those lazy sunday afternoons where the weather is hinting at fall you want to do is curl up with a cup of tea and a book (or the 2 months of Bon Appetite magazine you haven’t had time for)?  I am ready for those days.  This summer has been amazing.  One of my favorite summers ever actually!  But, as the days get cooler and a few of the leaves are starting to turn, so I’m ready for that pot of tea, a good book, and a cozy blanket.  The only thing that could make this picture even better is if there was something cooking to make my house…

Love People Well: Spicy Asian Quick Pickled Veggies or “Quickles”

While I admit that I gravitate towards baked goods, specifically muffins, as evidenced by the first two posts in the Love People Well series (found: here and here), I am spreading my wings and branching out!  Pull your mason jars!  We are making “quickles!!”  The easiest, tastiest, crunchiest spicy Asian-style quick pickled veggies! No one can argue with the easily shareable/giftable nature of cookies, muffins, scones, etc. but does my single-dude contractor friend who saved our house from falling over this week want a batch of muffins?  I’m willing to wager that answer is “no.”  (Although, he’s never been one to turn down anything with chocolate chips, now that I…

Love People Well: Best Banana Nut Muffins

I do promise that the Love People Well series won’t just be a million different types of muffins.  As soon as a few more things start to ripen in the garden, I have some spicy and crunchy ideas of the vegetable variety.  But in the mean time… if I’m being truthful, muffins have been the name of the game around here.  Knee surgery? Muffins.  Family members taking solo road trips? Muffins.  Brother moving to New Mexico for the summer?  Muffins. Anyone want to guess which muffins this summer have been the summer’s most requested?  Yup, these.  They truly are the best and most moist banana nut muffins ever – almost…
